Fly Fishing Shirts Archives with Very Advanced

In anticipation of our Saltwater Guide Fly Fishing Shirt releasing next week, we caught up with the New York based vintage archivist of Very Advanced, Jordan Page, to do a deep dive into the visual history of the fly fishing shirt. Jordan has been collecting and archiving sportswear, outdoors, and classic Americana apparel and assets for the last 10 years, many of which are logged on his Instagram. Here’s what Jordan found in his words...

"Conceived in 1997 & established in 2007, New York City based clothing company Only NY has always had a deep connection to outdoor & urban-scapes. You can venture through 13 years of timeless designs to find a mastered blend of the city & nature that have appealed to a wide range of audiences. On the more nature themed end of the brand’s design spectrum, fly fishing has been a reoccurring influence having been revisited numerous times in graphics over the years. Only NY continues in that vein more strongly with the release of their Saltwater Guide Fly Fishing Shirt. Available on Thursday, April 30 in Harbor Green and Ultramarine, Only NY follows in the footsteps of quintessential American outdoor brands like Orvis, Patagonia, L.L. Bean, & Columbia, referencing vintage archives to ultimately provide a quality product that is utilitarian in design but casual in material, making for perfect day-to-day wear. Light weight & made of 100% cotton, the practical roots of this shirt are evident in the fully functioning multi-compartment technical pockets with velcro closures & the vented back panel with polyester mesh liner for breathability. As tactical wear & casual wear continue their collision course, making for some of the most interesting pieces in menswear, I can only hope to see more infusion of fly fishing gear in Only NY's future."
